  • Artists in BirthMark may choose to auction their tattoos by clicking on the “Start an auction” button. Every auction has a countdown and a reserve price that is set by the artist.

  • Once an auction is live, collectors can place their bids for any amount that is equal to or above the reserve price. Highest bid is continuously updated and displayed on the NFT page.

  • Artists have the option to accept the highest bid and end an auction before the countdown reaches zero.

  • Once an auction ends, sale has to be completed by clicking on the “Finalize sale” button. Either the artist or the collector can finalize the sale. Finalizing a sale will transfer the winning bid amount to the artist’s wallet and transfer the tattoo to the collector’s wallet.

  • If the countdown reaches to zero and the reserve price has not been met, auction ends with no sale.

What Happens to Your Bids?

When you place a bid in an auction, the bid amount is deducted from your wallet and held in our marketplace contract. The tattoo NFT is also kept inside the marketplace contract to guarantee a fair and a secure transaction for both parties.

If you are outbid by another collector during a live auction, your bid amount will be refunded back to your wallet immediately. You don't need to take any action. If your bid is winning, your bid will be locked until the auction ends, or, another collector places a higher bid.

If you are outbid by another collector during a live auction, you can always place another high bid.
