# BirthMark Collections

Creating a collection contract on the blockchain can be a costly process. To help artists avoid high transaction fees, BirthMark uses proxy-contract technology. **With proxy-contracts, artists create their own collections with significantly lower fees.** This allows the artists to avoid paying the high fees that would be required to create a new contract from scratch.
