What is an NFT?

An NFT, or non-fungible token, is a unique digital asset that is verified on the blockchain. Think of an NFT as a digital collectible – it is like a rare trading card or a limited edition print, but it exists entirely in the digital world. Just like a physical collectible, an NFT is one-of-a-kind and cannot be replaced.

One way to understand the concept of an NFT is to think of it like a digital version of a signed, limited edition print. Just like a signed print is a unique, valuable artwork that is verified by the artist's signature, an NFT is a unique, valuable digital artwork that is verified on the blockchain. NFTs can be used to represent anything including all sorts of digital art, from traditional paintings and drawings to digital music and videos. They offer artists a way to create, sell, and authenticate their digital artwork in a way that is secure and transparent.
